Tai Chi Grandmasters and Masters Lecture Series

Beginning in 2026, the World Taiji Science Federation (WTSF) will host the Tai Chi Masters Lecture Series every spring (around April) and fall (around September) across North America. The goal of this program is to promote and advance Chinese martial arts—particularly Taiji (Tai Chi), Health Qigong, and traditional Kung Fu—throughout North America and around the world.

Lead Instructor & Teaching Team

This lecture series is led by renowned Tai master and WTSF President Master Shudong Li. The first group of invited guest instructors includes:

  • Zhao Youbin — Distinguished Yang-style Taiji master, 5th-generation lineage holder.
  • Wang Zhanjun — Prominent Chen-style Taiji inheritor and leading figure of the new generation.
  • Zhao Liang — Outstanding 6th-generation descendant of the Yang-style Taiji lineage.
  • Wang Qibin — Authentic inheritor of traditional Chen-style Taiji.
  • Professor Xue Xin — Professor and doctoral advisor at Hangzhou Normal University; national-level judge for Sanda and Health Qigong.
  • Professor Ma Wenguo — Renowned martial artist, Ph.D. in Wushu, and associate professor at Xi’an Physical Education University

Course Structure

The Tai Chi Masters Lecture Series focuses on the transmission of traditional Taiji skills, practical applications, Health Qigong, and traditional Kung Fu foundations. Courses combine theoretical instruction with hands-on practice, making them suitable for martial arts coaches, practitioners, and researchers at all levels.

Events will be held in multiple cities across North America.

  • Spring Session: March–May 2026
  • Fall Session: August–October 2026

Grandmaster Zhao Youbin

He is a fifth-generation direct inheritor of Yang-style Taijiquan and President of the Xi’an Yongnian Yang-style Taijiquan Association. He also serves as a member of the Chinese Wushu Association and Deputy Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Taijiquan Committee. Recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage inheritor, he began training under his father, Grandmaster Zhao Bin, at the age of seven and later studied with masters Fu Zhongwen and Yang Zhenji. He now leads a complete training system for traditional Yang-style Taijiquan lineage students.

Master Shudong Li

Master Shudong Li is President of the World Taiji Science Federation (WTSF) and the World Wushu Open Championships (WWOC), a member of the International Wushu Federation’s Kungfu Committee, and a board member of the USA Wushu-Kungfu Federation. He is the founder of the Stanford Medical Tai Chi Credit course, and an ambassador for Harvard’s International Conference on Tai Chi and Integrative Health. A direct student of Grandmaster Wang Xian, he is regarded as a leading Chen-style Taiji representative in the U.S. and teaches traditional forms, weapons, internal methods, and wellness-focused Taiji practice.

Master Wang Zhanjun

Master Wang Zhanjun is an authentic inheritor of Chen-style Taijiquan and a leading figure of the new generation. He trained under his father, Grandmaster Wang Xian, one of the most respected representatives of traditional Chen-style Taiji. From 1988 to 2010, he competed in hundreds of national and international events without a single defeat, earning the title “The Ever-Victorious General.” Master Wang now offers specialized programs in Taiji Push Hands, practical combat/sanshou applications, and the development of Taiji internal power.
