The World Taiji Science Federation (World Taiji Science Federation, WTSF) officially held a press conference in Los Angeles to announce the launch of the “2026 Global Series of Events for International Taijiquan Day.” The press conference successfully took place at the Hyatt Waldorf Chinese Restaurant, where several major events were jointly released, including the Stanford International Taijiquan Day Celebration, the Los Angeles International Tai Chi Heritage Conference, the Global University Video Collaboration Program, and the World Wushu Open.

In his keynote address, President Shudong Li stated that a series of events for the International Tai Chi Heritage Conference will be held in the Los Angeles area from April 22 to April 25. During the conference, renowned Tai Chi and Wushu masters will present demonstration performances, and a series of Tai Chi lineage training courses will be conducted. Many internationally recognized Tai Chi masters, martial arts experts, and representatives from related fields are expected to gather in Los Angeles to participate in demonstrations and teaching activities.
President Li also noted that, as an important preliminary event of the series, the International Taijiquan Day Celebration will take place on March 21 at Stanford University. The event is initiated by the World Taiji Science Federation and hosted by the Stanford Wushu Club, celebrating Taijiquan’s recognition as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
According to President Li, the number of performers registered for the collective demonstration at Stanford has already reached 427 participants, with total participation exceeding 500 people.
At the same time, WTSF has also launched a Global University Online Video Exchange Program for Taijiquan. As of the date of the press conference, more than 60 universities in China have already registered for the program, including Hangzhou Normal University, Chengdu University of Technology, and Dalian University of Technology.
In addition to the Stanford Wushu Club hosting the main on-site demonstration, several universities in the United States and abroad are also participating or registering, including the California University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, San José State University, the American University Tai Chi Federation, and the International Medical University.
Through this global university video collaboration, universities worldwide will showcase their participation in traditional Chinese cultural and sports practices such as Taijiquan, Taiji Sword, and Baduanjin, further expanding the global influence of International Taijiquan Day.
In terms of academic activities, WTSF will also collaborate with several world-renowned universities to organize high-level academic conferences on Tai Chi and health science. These include the Tai Chi and Integrative Medicine Conference at Stanford University and the Tai Chi and Qigong Holistic Health Academic Summit at Harvard University.
In addition, the registration system for the World Wushu Open, organized by WTSF, officially opened on March 8, 2026. The event is one of the largest Wushu competitions in the United States and is expected to attract approximately 2,500 athletes, with total participation exceeding 4,000 people.
