(Li's Wushu Academy)

Li’s Wushu Academy serves as the Cupertino Training Center for the World Tai Chi (Taiji) Science Federation (WTSF). Founded in 1997 by Master Li Shudong, the 12th-generation inheritor of Chen-style Tai Chi, the academy is dedicated to promoting authentic Tai Chi, Qigong, and traditional Chinese martial arts. Over the past decades, it has become one of the most respected and influential martial arts institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Teaching Excellence & Lineage Heritage

Under the guidance of Master Li Shudong, Li’s Wushu Academy has trained numerous outstanding students who have achieved exceptional results in regional, national, and international competitions. Through a rigorous and systematic curriculum, the academy helps students experience the true essence of Tai Chi, Qigong, and traditional Chinese martial arts, while cultivating discipline, confidence, and overall well-being.

Leadership in World-Class Wushu & Tai Chi Events

Li’s Wushu Academy has been a major driving force in the global development of Tai Chi and Wushu, contributing to internationally recognized events and initiatives such as:

  • Former host of the Golden State International Wushu Championships for 17 consecutive years
    (now renamed and elevated to the World Wushu Open Championships, WWOC)
  • Host organization for the Pan American Wushu Championships
  • Host of the Pan American Traditional Wushu Championships
  • Organizer of U.S. National Wushu Team Trials and Selection Events
  • Founder and organizer of the WWOC All-Around Grand Champion title and Hall of Fame
  • Contributor to international youth Wushu elite scholarship programs
  • Supporter and organizer of national-level Wushu selection and evaluation events

With the establishment of the World Wushu Open Championships (WWOC), this historic event has evolved into a globally influential platform—uniting Wushu, Tai Chi, Shaolin, Qigong, and youth development under one internationally recognized brand.

Advancing Tai Chi (Taiji) Science, Academic Conferences & Global Exchange

The academy actively promotes the scientific study of Tai Chi (Taiji), academic exchange, and international collaboration through a wide range of scholarly initiatives, including:

  • Establishing the Stanford University Medical Tai Chi (Taiji) for-credit academic course
  • Hosting and organizing international Tai Chi (Taiji)  academic conferences, the Tai Chi (Taiji)  Science Forum, and expert exchange programs
  • Founding the Journal of Taiji Science (JTS) to support peer-reviewed research and scholarly publication
  • Building a global platform for Tai Chi (Taiji)  research, academic exchange, and interdisciplinary collaboration

     

These efforts support the modernization, scientific development, and worldwide recognition of Tai Chi (Taiji) .

Building the Largest Martial Arts Supply Platform in the North America

The academy founded Kungfudirect.com, the largest martial arts wholesale and retail enterprise in the United States. The company has long sponsored:

  • The Pan American Wushu Championships U.S.
  • National Wushu Team Trials and Championships 
  • University Club and Tai Chi (Taiji) clubs across the country

Providing strong support for the growth of Tai Chi (Taiji) , Health Qigong, Wushu and other martial arts worldwide.

Master Shudong Li 

Master Shudong Li began his martial arts training at an early age under the renowned Tai Chi Grandmaster Wang Xian. As an 11th-generation lineage holder of Chen-style Tai Chi, he is internationally recognized as a distinguished Tai Chi master. Master Li has devoted his career to Tai Chi education and scientific research, offering systematic instruction in traditional Chen-style Tai Chi and weapons, Yang-style Tai Chi and weapons, internal energy cultivation, competitive Tai Chi routines, and Health Qigong. He is widely regarded as a leading representative of Chen-style Taiji in the United States and is one of the founders of Medical & Wellness Tai Chi.

Master Li has made outstanding contributions to Tai Chi (Taiji) transmission, health research, international exchange, and global Wushu event organization. He is recognized as a leading figure in advancing Tai Chi (Taiji) on the world stage.
